After a morning of more interviews we headed to the Prahran market to find a super popular coffee place and taste some yum yums.
We arrived at Market Lane Coffee around 11am. The smell was intoxicating with the grilling of fresh mushroom burgers with Bermuda onions, chipotle and Parmesan being cooked next to us by the friendly staff. As we walked inside I fell in love instantly. Coffee only, no tea and things that even I; a coffee nerd had never had before.
I chose to have a pour over coffee. Market lane coffee source and roast the beans themselves. I chose Nyakizu, a coffee that was given 88.41/100 at the prestigious Cup of excellence. Only 33 boxes of this stuff were ever produced, and I was going to be one of the lucky few to ever taste it.
This is by far the lightest cup of coffee I’ve ever had. It had undertones of butterscotch and a faint taste of pineapple. We sat on a little bench outside in the cold watching people pass by, and to be honest with this cup in my hand I could have sat there forever.
We then headed into food heaven and munched on fresh cheeses, nuts and pizza slices, before heading up to the Mister Nice Guy pop up bakery. These guys were recently featured in Frankie magazine for their cute store and amazing yummers cupcakes. Vegan and organic ingredients. We tried the Peppermint Pattie (in honor of the beloved snoopy comics gal) and I smashed back an amazing French toast mini in 2 seconds flat. Cupcake heaven.
Another day well spent eating cupcakes and drinking exceptional coffee. Moving to Melbourne is starting to make sense.
