Hey all you Nerds- the internet is back in action and I'm back in blog land, coming to you live from Melbourne.
Week two of my new life in Melbourne. It’s been huge. Last Saturday was the big move from Canberra to Melbourne. Liam and rad pal Pete drove the car with the fur babies in a 9 hr car trip. The car wouldn’t even start so it was mental from the get go. My old folks drove the massive truck and it took 5 people over 5 hrs to unload and get everything inside.
Over the next day we unpacked and cleaned like champions. Pete fell asleep on the couch early Sunday eve so Liam and I attempted to make a yummers dinner for him.
Our new kitchen isn’t a kitchen. We call it he fridge room. We have about 1mX1m to work with and no bench space. But we did it. Meatballs was a great success and I have since cooked everything from sweet sour pork to vegetarian lasagna in this little box of mine.
Wandering around the city on Tuesday we headed down Collins street and came across this awesome alley. It is covered in graffiti and had cute little cafes lining the streets. Does anyone know what the alley is called?
We grabbed a super cheap and yummy baguette from one of the stores and sat on bench in the ally to take in the view. As I sat and munched on my crusty roll I thought “This is why I moved to Melbourne.” Many things have changed since we came to visit over a year ago. Small businesses are shutting down everywhere and stores we used to depend on like Minotaur seem to be a little worse for wear. I can’t wait to find smaller, local businesses to support and help.
After a super crazy two weeks of moving, job interviews and tying up loose ends we are finally getting to relax a little. Taste, smell and see all that Melbourne has to offer.
