For once the sun was shining in Melbourne so Liam and I headed down to one of our favorite places Brunswick Street in Fitzroy.
On our way I spotted these two ladies. When I saw Gabby had a David Bowie shirt and Sophie had a Lousie from Bob's Burgers hat, I couldn't help but take a photo to show you guys.
First we headed to my beloved Jasper Coffee. Before we moved here, every trip to Melbourne started on this street and in this cafe. I love the smell of the fresh coffee bean barrels, the rad cups and gifts they have for sale and the little ally out the back with brick walls and rickety chairs. Today was too busy for the rad ally, so we sat out the front in the sun and perused the Melbourne Film Festival brochure.
For lunch we spotted this little gem across the way. There are so many vegetarian restaurants to choose from on this street. But Veggie Bar was super busy (always a good sign) and looked very welcoming.
It's so weird for me to be able to look at a whole menu. I am so used to only having to choose from the two things that I can eat at a restaurant. And in Canberra there are only around 3 vegetarian restaurants and two of them are Asian inspired food. At Veggie Bar they had so many types of food, many I'd never even thought to try.
This Cajun chili was so yummy, I really wish you had been there to eat it with me. It had yummy root vegetables in Cajun sauce, stewed and placed on a bed of brown rice. The whole yummers food party was topped with sweet potato chips and sour cream.
Liam got the Sunday roast. For the first time ever it was me stealing things off his plate. The roasted garlic was so awesome and that roast cob of corn you see there? "Holy yummers Batman"
Lastly we headed down to Polyester books. They stock obscure(and often filthy)underground books, magazines, films and comics. I was on the look our for more El Santo films with sub titles, but alas no luck today.
What did you nerds get up to this weekend? These little furbabies stayed home and slept.
