A few weeks ago our friends Emily and Milo were staying with us for a few days. Liam and I decided to finally go to the other 50s diner we had heard so much about called Misty's. Located just off Chapel Street, Misty's is the go to place if you are craving nothing but the unhealthy deliciousness of American fast food.
From the outside she doesn't look like much. A covered over outside eating area and a small sign informing you that Misty's is inside. I had seen it so many times, and decided because of the exterior not to enter. But this time, we did... and my eyes had a spasm. All the waiters/waitresses were in diner outfits. There was 50s/60s memorabilia everywhere. So bright, loud, welcoming and busy. Man oh man, this was a great idea.
We sat down and perused the menu while listening to Bill Haley and the comets. Misty's is not a place to come to if you are the health conscious. There are options, but why bother when the rest of the menu is soo good it's ridiculous. Everything... yes everything can be made vegetarian. So you can still enjoy the best grease food America has to offer.
We started off with some vegetarian chili fries. Super yummy and with quite a kick. To quench our thirst we chose Snapple and Dr Pepper off the drink menu with over 40 American sodas.
Emily and I are pretty happy after round one, now onto the mains.
As we waited, a bell rang and Misty herself began to speak over a microphone. A young man had accepted the challenge to attempt the Misty's diner challenge. The burger consists of:
5 patties, 5 pieces of cheese, 5 pieces of bacon, mayonnaise, BBQ sauce and a serving of chili fries. 30 minutes to eat, and no vomiting.
He chowed down faster on that thing then I could ever imagine. What a thrill to see. Everybody knows how much I love a good eating challenges.
Now it was our turn to taste the deliciousness. I had the American corn dog with mustard and pickle and a side of deep fried pickles. There were burgers with the lot, a grilled cheese sandwich with breaded deep fried cheese sticks inside and hot dogs with Jalapeno, relish and pickles. Man that was tasty. Full to the brim, I sadly had to bail out on desert. I was so excited to eat pumpkin pie, but I just couldn't do it.
Liam, Milo and Emily on the other hand dug in.
Here the boys are with their 9 candy sundae, including twizzlers and Reese's cups. (Why is Liam making that face? I have no idea. Hehehe)
Emily got the ultimate chocolate brownie, drizzled with chocolate sauce. Topped off with whipped cream and ice cream. Yummers!!!
And to wash it all down, a butterfingers thick shake. Too much yummers to handle. I was so upset I couldn't eat any. Next time I'm trying the pumpkin pie and getting a Reese's pieces thick shake.
Man I ate way to much. Thanks so much Misty's diner. We had a rad time. Your staff were rad (even Misty herself came over to see it we were enjoying our meal.) We have since been back again already and I downed that cheese sandwich like a boss. Anyone who comes to visit me here will be going to Misty's. Thanks Misty's. You are ever so rad.
