Behind a little yellow door in a very vacant dodgy looking street in Northcote lies the best vintage toy store in Melbourne. These guys know their stuff and love what they do. The displays are beautiful. Each action figure/statue is treated with love. Each time we visit the rad staff are setting up new displays, receiving new stock and combing their My Little Ponies hair so that each display is just right.
These guys have a huge range of toys from all eras. 60s- Bionic man,70s- Star wars, 80s- My little pony, 90s- Buffy and not to mention their modern releases. They have so many spectacular toys, some I haven't seen in years let alone ever. Some of their prices are a bit steep, but when your looking at a rare toy, well cared for from your childhood it's well worth it.
Each visit begins and ends at their He-Man and She-Ra cabinets. Beautifully displayed with original castles. They even have separate cabinets for vintage 80s and new re-makes. Each piece ranges from $25- $50+ depending on your poison. At the moment I have just started my collection of these guys again, so I can't wait to pick up a few pieces here like Loo kee and Stinkor.
Lobos is a very friendly place. They have three vintage arcade machines which they are happy to plug in and let you try, free of charge. What a thrill to play an original Tron machine (Even if I have no idea what's going on).
This is so cheap it was ridiculous. $95 for full old-school set of turtles and their van. Amazing. In great condition. If you like vintage turtles, they also have a full cabinet of them as well.
The Buffy display was beautiful. They had them all set up in the library. And what was creeping at the back? The Gentlemen. Man I hate those guys. I can't wait to save up and by myself a Jonathon and a Xander.
At the front counter is the most beautiful Jabba the hutt statue. It is so well lit as well. So eye catching. Just as we were leaving on our very first visit to Lobos I looked up and there she was.
The super limited 2009 She Hulk statue. This is 1 of only 1250 ever made. This 16 inch beauty was designed by Adam Hughes. One of my top comic book artists. She Hulk is my favorite comic book character of all time and I have been looking for this particular statue for years. And She was right in front of me for only $400. (She sells on ebay for $800+). It saddens me to say that It was my off pay week, and when I returned one week later to get her, she was gone. Kicking myself.
You guys should defiantly check these guys out. If you in Melbourne catch the South Morang train line and walk the 5 minute walk. You won't regret it. We have been back soo many times and each time spend hours looking at everything.
