Welcome to Supernova Melbourne 2013. After a crazy hectic and dangerous tram ride I arrived at the showgrounds. Who were the first people I saw? Why It's the stunning Phoenix and Mystique from X-men. Right from the start I knew it was going to be a great day.
Hey there Hawkeye. Did you enjoy my 4 minute rant about how great your new comic book series is in my new You Tube Video? You look even more rad in person.
Meet the lovely KellyXenaMitchell, Xena lover and fellow You-Tuber . I was so excited when I saw her that I ran from all the way over the other side of the convention to get this photo. She looks so much like Lucy Lawless, it's cray cray.
Meet the only loser at the convention. This guy was getting abused left, right and center. What kind of person thinks that it is ok to wear a Nazi costume? I don't care what manga or comic it's from, it was the wrong thing to do. You silly silly boy.
This dude was so chilled and nice. I have been to soo many conventions in my life and this is the first time I've seen a Duff man. Very original.
I flipped over to crazy town when I saw KITT from Knight Rider. I am a huge David Hasselhoff fan (seriously). I have loved him since I was little and first watched him being awesome on Baywatch. Mr David Hasselhoff was at the convention but at $50AUS for an autograph (which I already have an autographed copy of his autobiography) and $60AUS for a photo it was just out of my price range. Drooling at his beloved car would just have to be enough.
One super classy looking Two Face. This made me think about dying my hair grey and fluffing it on one side. So rad.
YAY! A Ramona Flowers from Scott Pilgrim. She looked spot on and I loved her handmade hammer. I'm pretty sure I need to get me a Ramona Flowers star bag.
This is my favourite photo I look on Saturday. Captain Cold from DC comics playing a Marvel comics pinball machine. I laughed so hard when I saw this, people around me must have thought I was even crazier than normal.
A beautiful female Riddler. You nerds that have been reading this blog for a while will know how much I love girls that revamp classic costumes. Soo pretty and I love the little green ribbons on the umbrella.
This Zatana was so adorable. It's such an iconic and classic costume. Zatana will always be one of my favourite characters. Maybe one day I'll get a chance to cosplay as her.
Such a unique group of costumes. I'm not sure who the first girl is but she looks so cute, then there's one of my idols Tank Girl, Homestuck and Marceline from Adventure time. Homestuck- a webcomic produced entirely on MS Paint, was by far the most popular costume of the convention. I'd never even heard of it before. Sounds like I have a lot of reading to do as this comic has over 6000 pages. Yikes
I was staring at this girl's Gir backpack for ages and when she turned around she won my heart. It's Gaz from Invader Zim. I have never seen a costume of her. She looks so much like her especially with the black gaming console.
How amazing are these Bioshock costumes? The boys of silence head is so full of awesome. I thought there would be at least one Elizabeth from Bioshock-Infinate, but there were none to be seen.
And to top the icing on the already fantastic cake a stunning Selina Kyle Aka Catwoman. One of my all time favourite comic book covers is by Adam Hughes and features this particular Catwoman drinking coffee at a diner. So this costume was even more loved by me for that reason.
Saturday was crazy busy, public transport was a mess and the weather was lame. But once I stepped inside those doors I was transported back to my happy place. Thank you to everyone who let me take their photo.
Stay tuned later this week for an all Disney cosplay post and coverage of Sunday including my first ever cosplay.
