I have been told many time to visit Retro Star in the Melbourne CBD but never actually made it there, until a few weeks ago. Why did I not go sooner? For the first time ever a vintage store that doesn't charge you $50 for acid wash jeans and the first thing I saw was a vintage X-men shirt. I should have listened to my friends.
Retro Star is filled to the brim with clothing and kick knacks from the 40's to the 90s. I saw comic book shirts, Spice Girl platform shoes and beautiful pink 50's dresses. I think we spent over an hour just looking at this t-shirt wall. The thing that will really blow your mind is that it is cheap, not op shop cheap, but average cheap. The first well priced vintage store I have ever been to.
The range of second hand shoes blew my mind. So many cute converse and limited edition vans.
Ok, I was happy when I was in Retro Star and then I flipped over to crazy town when I saw this rad Flinstones movie shirt and rack of Beverly Hills 90210 type beach hats. Pretty sure I need to buy both and wear them together.
Beavis and Buthead shirt for $35AUS? Yes please.
They have a whole section of tasty candies to eat and also a section for arm and ear candies. So many pretty friendship bracelets.
I was so upset when these bad boys didn't fit. Liam refused to try them on :(
Even the dressing rooms are a sight to see. Above them hang beautiful 50's dance dresses, all I could picture was myself dancing with Danny Zuco wearing one of them. So dreamy.
Since the day I took these photos I have been back more time then I can count. Retro star always has new things in and their displays are constantly changing. I feel like I'm in a whole new shop when I go. If you are in Melbourne put this on your must see list, but make sure you leave yourself at least an hour to look around.
