Last weekend I went to the final convention of the year Armageddon expo here in Melbourne. I went as Carrie Kelley Aka Robin from Dark Knight returns. For the first time ever I hand sewed an entire costume. I made everything except for the green shorts and green shirt. I still can't believe I made that cape it is so straight at the bottom. I even dyed my hair orange to match Carrie's. The entire costume took me around 2 months in between work and nerd-burger.com stuff. I was so excited to wear it that I couldn't sleep.
The very first cosplay I saw on the weekend was also one of my favourites. This beautiful girl chose to go as the radical Kate Bishop from Hawkeye. I love all the purple tops on her arrows and how they match her outfit completely.
I hope if I have a family that I we are this cute. While waiting in line to pick up my friend Tim's ticket I spotted this Bat Family. So adorable. I love the little muscles on the Batman costume and the little girl is totally rocking that Batgirl look, not to mention Joker's awesome makeup.
Armageddon had the best shopping out of all the conventions this year. Everything from giant statues of Gremlins to My Little Pony lunchboxes. It was really hard to not spend money. I did buy a few things which you can checkout in my Vlog later this week.
Just doing a bit of light reading.
The most dainty female Riddler I've ever seen. Such a classic cut dress with a twist and I love her little bowler hat.
It was super rad to run into some old Canberra friends at the con too. Their love for Star Wars always shines through in their costumes. So rad.
I feel super bad because mid sentence with my friends I ran off because I spotted this amazing She Hulk cosplay. She looked soo fantastic. I love that she went for the classic lawyer She Hulk and how did she get her green makeup to look so flawless? Could this be the real She Hulk?
Speaking of She Hulk the highlight of the whole convention was meeting Dan Slott writer of the 2004 She Hulk series. He liked my Carrie Kelley costume so much that he took a photo of me. *swoon* Dan was super nice and signed my favourite She Hulk cover #2 with Jennifer Walters holding up a car with her hands. Dan even let me in on what he would have written if the series had kept going. As we said goodbye I burst into tears. Dan's writing has has such an impact on my life. When I first read She Hulk many years ago I finally knew who I wanted to be in life. A smart lady by day, who can kick butt by night and is proud to be in the skin she is in. Thank you Dan Slott.
I saw a few Romona Flowers cosplays at Armageddon but this girl was by far the best. These guys looked like they had just stepped out of the movie. I really love the cellophane on Scott Pilgrim's sword to make it look like it's glowing. Bryan Lee O'Malley would be proud.
I fell head over heals for this girl dressed as Ash from Evil Dead. That chain saw is epic.
This cosplay was my favourite of the whole convention. Russell from Up. He had the little backpack, rainbow balloons and the exact patches on his sash. Loved it!
That's it for Part 1 of Armageddon Expo Melbourne 2013. This was such an epic convention that I have had to break the post into 2 parts.
