Harley Quinn DC Infinite Crisis Cosplay
I am super excited to share my photos of my second full cosplay. Harley Quinn from DC Infinite Crisis. It's based on an action figure coming out later this year. Harley Quinn has been one of my favourite characters for so many years. I love how fun and playful she is, while still not taking anyone's crap. Unfortunately most of her costumes are skin tight so I never felt comfortable dressing as her, until I saw slumber party Harley Quinn and I fell in love instantly.
What initially seemed to be an easy costume to make turned out to be extremely frustrating. The onesie was very unflattering and clung everywhere and I learnt the infuriating art of wigs. I purchased a cheap blond wig online thinking I could just tie it up into pigtails and dye the ends. The wig was too thin and showed the wig cap underneath and nothing would dye the tips red. I ended up cutting the pigtails off, haphazardly attaching them to butterfly clips and painting the tips with acrylic paint. The hair kept falling out all day. I have learnt a valuable lesson. Never skimp on the wig.
There were weapon restrictions for the convention I was visiting including weight and height. The hammer could be no longer then a metre and could not be made of a bed post as it could have been used as an actual weapon. I ended up making the bed post from glad wrap containers, a milk carton and two styrofoam balls. I covered everything in masking tape and spray painted it brown. I think it turned out really well and it was super fun to carry stuck through the bear I made.
I am really proud of how the costume turned out. Cosplay is all about having fun and learning new skills and I can say I learnt more making this costume then I have in years. Lately I find whenever I watch or read something I want to make a costume from it, cosplay is becoming an addiction.
What costume would you guys like to see me make next?
