From the moment I started getting involved in cosplay I knew there would be trouble. When I was dressed as Carrie Kelley and a young boy said "Hi Carrie Kelley" and gave me an epic high five, I knew I was hooked. Because of cost and time issues I have limited myself to only doing around three cosplays a year for the conventions here in Melbourne. This has become increasingly difficult as I find everything I read or watch I want to make a costume from. I am currently working on Rufio from Hook for the next convention so that leaves only one more cosplay for last convention in October. Too many good choices.
The Comedian: The Watchmen
I am often drawn towards villains. I myself am such a goodie two shoes that the idea that people would make such terrible life choices intrigues me. The Comedian is such an epic jerk that it would be exciting to play the part of such a loser for the day. The Comedian would be the most expensive and difficult of all the costumes on my list. This would find me making gun holsters, masks and armour which means a bunch of new skills.
Bee: Bee And Puppycat
I only saw this web cartoon last month and have been obsessed ever since. I see a lot of myself in Bee. I'd like to do a cosplay of her in her bee jumper with rainbow candy stains all around her mouth. The best thing about this cosplay is I would not have to do a lot of sewing. I can buy Puppycat to carry and the rest are just everyday clothing items. The two best things about being Bee for the day is having a huge brown wig and I get to eat a lot of candy.
Jack Burton: Big Trouble In Little China
Another film I only saw recently. I fell in love instantly with this mullet sporting everyday man who sucks at fighting and knife throwing and just wants his truck back. Another cosplay which requires no sewing, but involves a rad mullet wig and a huge gun. My main concern with this cosplay is that people who have not seen the film may think I am just a bogan and not the ever radical Jack Burton.
She Hulk: Marvel Comics
This smart and strong lady has ben my idol since I was a teenager. An everyday lawyer who can kick people's butts in court and in life. My obsession with the character makes the cosplay stressful and I want to do the character justice. I have seen some really terrible cosplays of She Hulk with face paint peeling off and in the wrong colour. I think I can finally do her right after seeing the body paint used by the radical Anna used for her Fiona from Shrek cosplay.
Ulala: Space Channel 5
Lately I have really enjoyed playing Space Channel 5 on Dreamcast with the Husband. Ulala is a reporter for Space Channel 5 and must rescue people by dancing while reporting the news. I love her pink dress and boots and I would not have to wear a wig. I have always liked rocketeers and space girls so making a rocket pack and ray gun would be really fun. I am concerned by the tightness and length of Ulala's dress as I am very old school when it comes to showing skin.
Gaston: Beauty And The Beast
Gaston is by far my favourite character from the Disney universe. I find him hilarious. I love that he is self confident and not afraid to get his socks wet for love. I'd love to cosplay as Gaston with his huge blunder bus and carry an egg with me at all times. I'd love to have long flowing black hair for the day as well as posing with an epic grin and my chin poking out.
Thanks to Mariko at the Gamer Wife for the inspiration for todays blog post. Which cosplay would you guys like to see me do?
