This past weekend I had the most amazing time at Oz Comiccon here in Melbourne. I have been making my Rufio costume for over a month to wear when I met Dante Basco Aka Rufio from Hook. I was super excited when I met this lovely Rufio.
Flora, Fauna and Merryweather from Sleeping Beauty. These guys looked perfect and were super friendly.
You all know how much I love the 1966' Batman TV Series and this Burt Ward Robin blew my mind. I can not believe the craftsmanship in this costume. Look at that cape and belt.
This was the most sassy Storm I have ever seen. He was by far my favourite costume of the whole day. I love the trend of gender bent cosplays I have been seeing lately. There was also a male Ariel on Sunday and a female Gaston.
Another radical gender swapped cosplay, Punisher. This lovely girl really committed by even having the correct boot colour which many cosplayers often miss. She looked beautiful.
After wandering around shopping and looking at cosplayers it was finally time to meet the man himself, Dante Basco. I was super nervous in the line but once I heard him say 'hello' I calmed down. He was so lovely and really liked my costume which meant so much to me. He signed my Rufio action figure and I'm not going to lie, I cried afterwards.
When I went to get my photo with Dante later he remembered my name and was gracious enough to ask me to now be the Pan in the photo. I was so overwhelmed with emotion and still can not believe I met someone I have looked up to my whole life. He was just such a rad dude.
Lucky for me Liam helped me film a whole vlog of the day and even filmed as I met Dante so I can watch it over and over again. If your in the mood to laugh at a fangirl and see some radical cosplay be sure to watch.
My friend Veda was dressed as Ms Freeze and looked incredible. She made the whole costume herself including the gun. Her chest piece even had working blue lights. So cool.
I spotted this Walter from the Big Lebowski out of the corner of my eye. He looked just like the character then pulled out a bowling ball from his bag. Now that is commitment to a costume to carry that around all day.
This was my favourite couple of the convention. Beetlejuice is such a fun character and again it was cool to see a gender bent version of such a classic costume. So much imagination.
After 6 hours of Oz ComicCon it was time to head home. This was by far one of the best conventions I have ever been to. So many great costumes, guests and the atmosphere was fantastic. I hope you all had a rad time.
