With only a few days left until Christmas the city is a hustle and bustle with people and Christmas cheer. This is my favourite time of year to live in Melbourne and these are some of my favourite places to be.
This unique tree display is in Melbourne Central shopping centre and station. A neon yellow tree made from scaffolding is filled with all kinds of fun goodies. Penguins in Santa hats, Jem's pink guitar and even a mini Christmas tree. It is by far the most colourful Christmas display in Melbourne and I love all the rainbow lights that surround it.
The Bourke street mall has thousand of red and green bells hung above it. As well as many of the windows displaying big green wreaths. This area is the most festive and the most busy place to be in the CBD for one reason.
For 59 years department store Myer does an epic window display which people from around Australia come to see. Set over 6 huge windows is an intricate animatronic display you have to see to believe. This years theme is the story of Santa and the three bears.
Another big tradition for me is Starbucks Gingerbread coffee. On the first day it's available the husband and I go into the city to grab a cup while shopping for decorations and presents. It is my favourite moment of the year.
And at home it's time to bake cookies and see how many Christmas books get eaten by the cats. I always keep my favourite Christmas books under the tree to read and almost all of them have been lovingly chewed on by my little furry babies. While most people would be annoyed I see it as a sign that Christmas is nearly here.
