I have had a passion for collecting statues of super ladies and villains for many years. Everyone from Batgirl, to Powergirl and even Catwoman have been lovingly unpacked from their boxes, placed on the little glass shelf and dusted each week. While I have many action figures of Wonder Woman it was not until this past month that this iconic woman found her way into the cabinet.
The DC Bombshells collection combines my love of pin up art from wartime (I have 4 tattoos of pinups on my legs) with my passion for comic books in such a wonderful way. Strong and powerful with a dash of sass, Wonder Woman is now by far one of my favourite pieces I own.
When I see Wonder Woman's face every morning I feel motivated and happy. It is funny how something as simple as the image of a character can help you create and help make the world a little bit better in your own way.
The first thing that actually drew me to this particular statue was the costume. Diana's iconic star skirt/shorts have been given a makeover. High wasted shorts with two rows of adorable star buttons. I love that her top is a little undone at the top as a throwback to the iconic images of artists like Gil Elvgren and Earl Moran without being too over the top. And I love the added element of Diana's golden lasso being made out of a metal to insure it's longevity.
I am so happy to finally have Wonder Woman join the other amazing women in by statue cabinet. She most certainly deserves her place there.
Unfortunately for me this statue has made me want to collect all of the bombshell statues. The statue in the collection I am most anticipating is the Batwoman Baseball statue. The image was taken from a variant cover of Batwoman that came out last year during Bombshell month.
What do you think of the bombshell collection? Do you like the playful yet strong nature of the Wonder Woman statue?
