As I write this it is nearly midnight on a Saturday night. I tried to go to sleep an hour ago but then I thought too much about a horror movie I watched this month.... it really freaked me out. And it's been a long time since a horror film has made me feel like that.
Wolf Creek is one of the 28 horror movies I have watched this year as part of my goal of watching 100 horror movies in 1 year. I found myself grossed out by the reality of the situation. The villain- Mick is just like so many old school Australian blokes that I see on a daily basis. Rough, inappropriate and always with a flannel shirt/wife beater. The violence and special effects were so well done that in one scene where someone gets stabbed I felt my stomach turn. I watched a documentary right before bed about the film, and it showed that scene in depth. Turns out the actor was stabbing a real pig carcass which is what made it so believable. Yuck!
Anyway... I have been having a great time reliving my teen years binge watching horror movies and eating pizza and thought I would do a video each month talking about the movies I've watched and rating each one on a scale of one to five.
I am a little bit nervous as the actor John Jarratt who plays Mick Taylor in Wolf Creek is coming to a convention next month. I really want to meet him and cosplay Mick- but he also scared the shit out of me.
I hope you enjoyed this new adventure and video series. I'd love to hear what some of your favourite horror movies are and i'll add them to my list.
